There is no place like home

There is no place like home.

After 54 days of quarantine I have to say I love this home we built nearly thirty years ago more than ever.  I am enjoying spending more time in my cozy studio with the sound of Burke's guitar floating up the stairs.  The weather has been nice for eating meals on the deck and and having coffee with friends (via telephone) in the gazebo every afternoon.

Outside it is so quiet.  More people are walking on our road than driving, and few airplanes fly overhead.  The oak trees have completely leafed out now and I am enjoying watching my flowerbeds change from week to week as new blooms open and older ones finish.  The tomato plants already have little green tomatoes and the wild geese are parading their goslings across the front yard.

2020 so far...

It has been a year of ups and downs.  Exciting news of winning paintings only to have the shows cancelled, trips to openings cancelled and paintings locked in galleries.   Here's a few examples:

"Central Park Sunday"  Signature Status winner
American Watercolor Society, still in its shipping crate
in a warehouse in the Bronx.

"Writing On The Wall" is in my closet instead of
hanging in the beautiful Booth Museum of Western Art
in Georgia in the American Women Artists Juried show.
The virtual show can be seen at www.americanwomenartists.org

"Lofty" is hanging in the museum in Yosemite National
Park in the annual competition titled Yosemite Renaissance.
The park is closed.

It would appear that Sparrow Gallery in Sacramento will soon be open by appointment which means that you could actually view in person "The Journey" and exciting invitational group show celebrating women.  Watch for details on www.sparrowgallery.com or Facebook and Instagram.  Girl Power is my painting in the show.

"Girl Power" watercolor $1,550.

Also at Sparrow Gallery you will find my pop-up show, "Hitting Her Stride" in celebration of my painting "Yosemite Light" winning the Artists Magazine's "Artists Over 60" competition.  The painting has been sold but we created a special listed edition of ten prints just for this show.

"Yosemite Light" listed edition giclee print
18" x 12"   $145. signed and numbered.
Edition of ten.
